New Sunshine Coast Masters Website

A new Masters Club website has been published on the internet.
The Sunshine Coast Masters Athletics club in Queensland, Australia has been operating since 2008 , meets are held at the University of the Sunshine Coast , Sippy Downs. The club has recently established their own website with club info, news and results.

Pirtek Athletic Allstars Event To Light Up Sydney Olympic Park!

The Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre will host the world's fastest man Usain Bolt at what's being hailed as an innovative meet designed to "entertain and inspire" on September 15, 2010.
 
Bolt, the world champion in the 100m, 200m and 4 x 100m events, will be guest of honour at the inaugural Competitive Edge All Star event, which has been described by meet director Hayden Knowles as the sport's equivalent of the Twenty20 cricket phenomenon.
 
National Rugby League stars Jarryd Hayne and Greg Inglis will headline the Gatorade Bolt to find Fastest Man in Footy sprint race: Canterbury's Jamal Idris, who represented Australia at the World Junior Athletic Championships three years ago, will take on world discus champion Dani Samuels while former international rugby league star Mark Geyer will match muscle with national shot put champion Scott Martin.
 
Samuels will also compete in a unique three-way shoot-out against America's Olympic Champion Stephanie Trafton Brown and former New Zealand world champion Beatrice Faumina.
 
World indoor long jump champion Fabrice Lapierre will attempt to break the national record "Jumping" Jai Taurima set 10 years ago when he won a silver medal during the Sydney Olympics.
 
Sydney hurdler Hayley Butler will go head-to-head with her Kiwi arch rival Andrea Miller in a Trans Tasman challenge aimed to decide the queen of Australasia's 100m hurdles ahead of the New Delhi Commonwealth Games.
 
Reigning Commonwealth Games Champion John Steffensen will compete in an interactive 400m race against Aussie legend Darren Clark in a 21st century version of the battle of the clock. Steffensen will race vision of Clark taken when he was at his peak.
 
The night will also feature dancers, rock bands and DJs as well as numerous other activities that are aimed to help draw a new crowd to the ancient disciplines of athletics.

Peter Crombie wins in the US
Peter Crombie competed at the recent US Masters Championships in Sacamento and won the M65 100m and 200m events.  He defeated his long time friend and rival Steve Robbins by the closest of margins .01 second in both events.  In doing so he equalled the current AU M65 100m record of 12.62 seconds.

We have upgraded the website, included in the rebuilt mastersathletics.info website is a new Forum for discussion about all things related to masters athletics, suggestions for the website can also be entered here. To enter comments on the forum you must register on the site.

Also new to the website is a Directories section where you can enter details of Masters Clubs, Training and Coaching venues and also Track Locations. Registration is recommended for this section so that updates can be made to your entry.
The Directories have been organised in Regions and Countries.

Some of the videos have not been re-loaded yet and will be reloaded onto the site as soon as is possible.

Congratulations to the Mens 65-69 4x400 Relay team in breaking the world record by over 6 seconds.

The team comprising of Heinz Steinmann Qld, Tony Ireland NSW, Nev McIntyre NSW and Col Buyers Qld
ran at the 2009 Masters National Athletic Championships held at Santos Stadium in Adelaide,SouthAustralia setting a new World Record of 4:02.62 beating the previous record of 4:09.08.
